Helping Your Child Become More Confident

Home » Family and Parenting » Helping Your Child Become More Confident
20 October 2021

With a child having a lot of different stresses from school, friends and family, there are many ways a child can feel less confident about their surroundings. There are a number of ways to help your child with their self-esteem and confidence, however, that can give them the guidance and support to be an independent and strong individual. With the advice of this nursery in Somerset, we take a look at the ways you can help your child become more confident.

Invite your child to take part into extracurricular activities

Give your child the chance to look at some extracurricular activities like art clubs, sports lessons and outdoor activities like Scouts or Brownies have the chance for kids to explore new activities and team-building exercises. If you’re able to, ask your child if they’d like to try a number of different activities to find what their passions are. If your child finds what they’re passionate about they’re more likely to make lifelong friends and build relationships that will significantly boost their confidence.

Challenge them in exciting ways

Problem-solving with your child can prepare them for what could come. Having the chance to pose challenges in front of your child will give them the skills to tackle other more complex problems in school or between friends. Being an effective problem solver can give children the confidence to handle stressful situations.

Set realistic goals for your child

Have your child overcome difficult issues by setting small, realistic goals that your child can manage. Smaller goals to reach means that your child can feel confident in handling larger tasks later on down the line, and it gives them the reassurance and support that they can complete tasks just as well independently. Having regular praise for completing goals means that they’re much more likely to take on tougher goals in the future and train them to be confident human beings.
