Science is a great thing for children to explore as they grow older. It’s also a very essential subject for your child to develop their skills in, as a vast majority of their skills and knowledge will derive from science. To help you raise a science lover in your child, here are the top tips from this prep school in Chelsea.

Allow free play with science tools
Each time your child decides they’d like to have some time to play freely, use this as an opportunity to bring out a range of science-themed toys, games and tools. Examples of good tools you could use are magnet toys, using a mirror and a glass jar to make a rainbow, a prism and test tubes to make experiments in. If your child has any ideas of their own then use these to build a nice selection of science toys.
Make time for experiments
The fun about experiments is that they can result in a range of different outcomes that your child can discover. You could cut up an apple and fill it with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar to make a volcanic eruption. You could use food colouring in water to make different coloured raindrops. Kinetic sand can also be a fun and exciting choice – it’s sand that remains in a squeezy, tangible consistency and can make heaps of fun for kids.
Explore sci-fi together
We all had those times where we would watch science fiction films with our own parents or had a favourite programme that involved science. These can now be projected onto our own children with plenty of TV shows and films for your child to explore. They could find a particular sci-fi show that they really enjoy the look and feel of, which they can use as a comfort programme.
