A beautiful garden adds a special element to any home. What makes a beautiful garden is very much a personal choice but the basics are always the same.
Plenty of colour and vibrancy, neat, weed-free lawns and some points of interest such as garden art or sculpture.
Budgeting for a garden update is a tricky business! You may only have a certain amount to spend and it’s tricky to make those choices.

Here then are 5 budget-friendly ideas to update your garden. These won’t break the bank but will make a big difference and a big impact.
1 – Add places to sit and relax
Patio sets or picnic tables are vital when it comes to not only the looks of your garden but also its usability. You don’t need to spend a fortune to create a lovely, outdoor setting where you can relax. A simple table and chairs plus the addition of a nicer place to lounge when the sun’s out, such as a hammock will be perfect and you can get very reasonably priced ones from Tropilex Hammocks.
Add a nice sunshade and some plants in pots and candles and you’ll have a really lovely area to sit and chill.
2 – Revamp your lawn with artificial grass
Artificial grass is an affordable way to ensure your garden looks good all year round. Easy to maintain, inexpensive to buy, it’s also a time-saver! Those hours spent watering, weeding and mowing are now a thing of the past. Artificial lawns today, look just like the real thing and they’re bouncy and pleasant to walk on too! Simple to install and long-lasting, they look good and save money – what’s not to love?
3 – Create a vegetable garden
Vegetable gardens can look surprisingly attractive and they’re truly the most budget-friendly gardening habit to get into. Many vegetables which you buy in the supermarket can be reused and planted in the garden. Potatoes, spring onions and lettuce are just a few! You don’t need a lot of space and if you prefer, you can use a large container instead.
4 – Make your own plant food
Utilise those weeds by turning them into plant food. Simply take a good handful of nettles, immerse them in a bucket of rainwater, and leave for 2 weeks. The resulting ‘soup’ is full of nutrients that your plants will adore.
5 – Solar lights
Solar lights are inexpensive and effective. You can use old jars to hold single lights or string them up in places you’d like to see lit up. Line your pathway with them for added safety at night or simply hang lanterns from your trees.
You don’t need to spend big to make your garden into a beautiful oasis and the great news is that all of the tips above are good for small and large spaces.
