Planning the Perfect Welcome Home Party

One of the greatest party atmospheres is when you are welcoming home somebody that has been away for a long time. A welcome home party should be a celebratory affair but it can also be a relief to have them home. If it’s someone you haven’t seen for a long time it can be a mix of emotions and if you are looking to throw a welcome home party what are the things you have to think about?

An Intimate Affair or a Lavish Celebration?

Think about the type of person they are. If they are modest you could set up a simple dinner party, especially if they’ve been travelling for a long time and they’ve only just landed. On the other hand, if they are someone who is a lover of life you can throw the kitchen sink at the operation! The type of person they are will dictate the party. If they are gregarious and are the sort of person who will stay up until 3 in the morning, the options are endless!  Get googling Balloon Company Dallas, get a band to play or contact a photo booth hire company to get something set up. When you start to think about a lavish celebration it’s got to be in keeping with the type of person they are.

Where Do You Want It?

Is it going to be a party at home? Or do you want to rent out somewhere and make it a surprise? You have to remember that if they’ve been away for a long time they want the feeling of being at home. In which case you could rent out a local pub or club and give them the home comforts they need. On the other hand, if they just want to come home and relax you don’t necessarily have to over-prepare. They are happy to be home so you don’t have to deck out the place in balloons and party paraphernalia.

The Element of Surprise

If it’s a cloak and dagger operation it’s important to choose somebody that the guest knows really well so they can be picked up under false pretences. That way, if you are hosting it in a specific venue the friend can make some excuse to drop off something or visit somebody. Coordinating this effort can prove tricky but it’s about making sure that it’s a well-oiled machine. And don’t forget, you’ve got to make sure that all the guests are there before the guest of honour arrives. Set up a WhatsApp group and that way everybody is on the same page.

Ultimately, planning a welcome home party is all about giving the person all the home comforts they need and have missed. Naturally, you want to show them that you miss them but don’t forget, they are more than likely just happy to be home. As long as you give them the things that they’ve missed, perhaps their favourite drink if they’ve been abroad or those little items of food that they love, they are going to be ecstatic regardless!
