How Much Do You Know About Your Fertility?

Home » Family and Parenting » How Much Do You Know About Your Fertility?
11 August 2021

If you’re thinking about having a baby, then you may be interested in learning more about your fertility. The journey to conception will hopefully be a simple one, but for some people it can be a little trickier. Either way, understanding all you can about your fertility is vital – it removes a lot of the mystery and can help you prepare for pregnancy.

You may think you know a lot – but there’s quite a lot to learn for most people.

Here are some interesting fertility facts which might surprise you:

  • 80% – 90% of couples will fall pregnant within a year of trying
  • Moderate exercise can improve fertility for both men and women. Too much has a negative effect – as does too little. For instance, women who exercise excessively may prevent their menstrual cycle, which is obviously vital for conception.
  • The best time to get pregnant is within a day or even two of ovulation. It doesn’t have to be on the same day. There are kits you can use to determine whether you are ovulating.
  • Even if you or your partner have had a baby previously, that is not a guarantee that you can do it again – fertility can change, especially if your lifestyle has also changed. For example, if you have started smoking or drinking alcohol more regularly, you may struggle to conceive.
  • Vitamin D can potentially improve chances of conception according to recent studies

The fact is that fertility is a sensitive subject for many people. The desire to have a child can be extremely strong and if a couple struggles, then this can be devastating.

Worry can make things worse – stress has a negative effect on your general health so it’s better to take control of the situation and seek help when needed. Perhaps consider meditation to help reduce your stress levels.

Talking to professionals can be of great help. If you’re worried about your options, then consider contacting a private fertility clinic in London where expert advice and treatment could help you to reach your goal of a successful pregnancy.
